Distinctives

It is our desire that First Christian Church will thrive around four characteristics found in Acts 2:42-47.

They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers. Everyone around was in awe–all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person’s need was met. They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful, as they praised God. People in general liked what they saw. Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved. (Acts 2:42-47)

In the order as presented in Acts, we focus on:

Bible page photoInstruction:  First Christian Church is committed to fulfilling its primary purpose, making disciples. In short, we are uniting with Jesus to find and restore the lost, His treasured possession! To help accomplish this, each Sunday is an expositional teaching of the Word. Elective classes are offered for adults.

Fellowship: Meaningful relationships with others are formed through small groups for ladies and men. Youth groups are in the development stage.

Worship: Adoration of the risen Christ

Expression: Opportunities to compassionately serve others

Prayer

Surrounding it all is prayer! When we pray we see what God can do. When we don’t pray, we see what we can do, and, we’ve seen what we can do! So we come to our Lord with open, humbled and surrendered hearts. Oswald Chambers said, “Prayer is our holy occupation. It is the work!” When we ask the Lord to come, He always comes. When we ask Him to do something, He always does something and that something is never less than we ask!
