We have contracted with LifeTouch Church Directories and Portraits to take family pictures and prepare a pictorial directory for our church. LifeTouch is a Christian company that is used by churches and schools throughout the United States.

What do their pictures look like?

LifeTouch pictures are creative and fun, far from the “drivers license picture”.

Who can be in the family picture?

Whomever is in your family. Even if you have extended family who do not attend our church, they may be in your picture.

Will there be a strong sales pitch for us to buy expensive packages?

We have been assured that no pressure selling will be involved. You will receive an 8X10 of the picture of your choice for free. Additional packages will be available as desired.

Special Service on July 3rd

A very special service is being prepared for July 3rd. Here are some highlights:

Adult Sunday School classes will combine to hear from Devin Chance about the Life of Hope Ministries. The Mama Carmen home in Guatemala is supported by Life of Hope. Last month, our church gave approximately $1200 to provide needed medicines.

During the morning worship hour, we will focus on praying for the United States and the country of Guatemala. Devin will join Pastor Dean in the leadership of this service. More information about how to pray for your country can be found at Call2Fall.

After the morning service, we will enjoy a family potluck dinner.

Family BBQ dinner

Men will take care of the BBQ, setup and takedown; ladies will provide the sides and oversee the kitchen. Before everyone takes off for the summer, let’s come together and celebrate!

Barbara Maxine Gray

BARBARA MAXINE GRAY, 80 of Siloam Springs, AR passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at her home in Siloam Springs, AR.

Barbara was born February 3, 1931 in Phoenix, AZ; she was the daughter of Audrey & Jessie Gertrude Coberly Smith. She married Jack Allison Gray on July 15, 1950 in Florence, AZ. She was a member of the Siloam Springs First Christian Church, the Dawn Hill Women’s Golf Association, and Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed golf, dance, travel, being a homemaker and having her family together. She especially enjoyed her 7 grandchildren; Jacqulyn, Geoffrey, Allison, Jason, Sarah, Amanda and Jalene, 15 great grandchildren; Brittany, Lindsey, Ashley, Paige, Morgan, Liberty, Makenna, Eden, Sterling, Austin, Haley, Deacon, Foster, Carson, and Landrie and one great great grandchild, Allison Nicole. They all loved her dearly and will miss her always.

Holy Week

Holy Week begins April 16th and ends on Easter morning, April 24th. Attend these key events to remember and celebrate our Lord’s death and resurrection.

Good Friday Service

On Friday, April 22nd, from 7:00-8:30 PM, we will have a special service focusing on the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. The service will include a personal time of commitment, communion and prayer.

Resurrection Sunday

Sunday, April 24th is Resurrection Sunday! We’ll start the day with a family breakfast at 8:00 AM. The family worship service will be 9:30-11:00 AM. This will be a wonderful day to bring a neighbor or friend. The theme of the message is: The Hope of Easter!

Reva Whitlock

Reva Alyene Whitlock of Siloam Springs joined her Savior in heaven on March 29, 2011 at the Methodist Nursing Home in Fort Smith, AR. She was born October 5, 1925 at her family home in Siloam Springs, AR. She was a member of First Christian Church where she attended Bible studies and sang solos throughout her life. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star. As an avid horsewoman, Reva was not only a founding member of the Siloam Springs Riding Club but also their first riding club queen. She often sang the National Anthem at the rodeo, loved her Red Hat Society club, and was often a guest soloist at the Bethel Methodist Church and other organizational meetings.

Reva will lie in state at Edwards Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. She will also lie in state at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Doris Maxine Robrahn

Doris Maxine Robrahn, 92, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died March 13, 2011, at Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale, Arkansas. Born July 3, 1918, in Dearborn, Missouri, she was the daughter of Norvil Laurence and Mary Green Laurence. Doris attended grade school and high school in Dearborn, Missouri, and graduated from high school in 1936. She attended Maryville State Teachers’ College. She taught school for four years. On December 29, 1939, she married Ronald Robrahn in Lexington, Missouri. They moved to Siloam Springs in 1946. Doris worked for United Telephone Company from January 1956 to December 1960. She retired from J.C. Penney’s after working there for 26 years. Doris was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Travel Masters, Lion Tamers Club and First Christian Church in Siloam Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald; one son, Ronald Robrahn, Jr.; one sister, Katherine Laurence; and one brother, Ora Laurence.

Survivors include one son, Larry Robrahn and wife Linda of Siloam Springs; two granddaughters, Stacy West and husband John of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, and Melisa Arellano and husband Alex of Siloam Springs; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at First Christian Church, Siloam Springs. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs. Click on this link to sign the guest book to send a word of encouragement to the family.

Living Vertically is the art of Christian living through spiritual discipline.

It means that our focus turns away from ourselves, removing us from a self-centered realm of existence and opening the door of our minds to a God-centered frame of reference, where all things begin and end with Him.
