Extreme Missions

It’s a mission with Jesus!

“God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

These verses comprise what we know as the Great Commission. Loving the world to Jesus is a co-mission. Our Savior promised to be with us, day after day, attempt after attempt. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish all He asks of us. Implementing the commission involves local, regional and global perspectives.

One of the major objectives of Extreme Missions is the personal engagement of God’s people, including children, youth and adults. Each will have intentional opportunities to share the love of Jesus.

Sunday Night Live is the umbrella name for ministry on Sunday afternoons and evenings. This includes The Garden, focusing on providing meals for some of our needy Siloam Springs friends. GriefShare is a restoration ministry for those who are grieving.

FC United, our youth ministry, is involved with local outreaches, supporting New Life Ranch, working in The Garden and working toward adopting its own people group to serve across the street from the church.

From these local and regional outreaches we desire to move more broadly into our world. The church has adopted Mama Carmen’s Home as our People Group. Summertime mission trips for high school students will focus on ministering to the needs of more than 70 children in her home.

XtremeKids is our Sunday mornings children’s ministry. The XtremeKids program includes Extreme Missions projects that are overseen by the children. Two of them are called the Teddy Care Project and Mission Possible.

Teddy Care Project

Periodically, the church will have a Teddy Care shower; bears will be collected for XtremeKids to distributed. Children will write a note of encouragement. The bears and notes will be sent to a children who are in the hospital with serious illnesses. It is our desire that this comfort ministry will be used by God in a powerful way!

Mission Possible

Mission Possible focuses on the church and local community. Plans include gardening around church grounds, baking cookies for shut-ins, performing at local soup kitchens and rest homes.

Internships

Internships are for college age young adults. The main objective is to:

Disciple young adults by encouraging their faith, training them for ministry and sending them out.

Disciple young adults by encouraging their faith means that leaders will commit themselves to walking alongside them to encourage their faith. This could include prayer partnerships and casual get-togethers.

…training them for ministry means that interns will work alongside their leaders who will engage them in authentic, tailor-made ministry. We want interns to use their knowledge and skills and interests; no passivity here! Do you love children, youth, adults? Do you like to teach? Do you like to lead small groups? Do you enjoy service to homeless? Do you enjoy cooking? The list is endless – and there is a place for all of it in ministry!

…sending them out means that if an intern plans to go on a summer missions trip, as part his or her school experience, we will help them financially.

The bottom line is that we desire these young men and women to participate in an authentic, cutting edge ministry experience that engages their field of study (if in college) and their interests within the context of local church ministry. In some cases, internship work will be honored by John Brown University; if possible, the college will define the requirements and the church will serve as mentor.

If interested, complete the online application. After we receive it, you will be contacted for an interview. Final selection of interns will be communicated soon after the interview.

So, the question that needs to be answered is:

What are you willing to do to see what God is willing to do with and through your life?
